We are home. We spent a week at Hilton Head, South Carolina. I think my favorite day was Friday, our last day. We were supposed to leave Friday morning, but after hearing the weather forecast, decided to stay. Our change in plan meant that we would leave after a day in the sun and drive through the night until we got home. It was a good decision. It was such a beautiful day, the best all week. We ended up staying on the beach until 6 pm. No one wanted to leave.
Two big bummers. One is that Rob got really sick. The first night. And I mean the first night in the hotel on the way down. Burning with fever, the chills, literally wiped out. This lasted for much of our vacation. He ventured down to the beach on Monday and lasted for maybe a half hour before heading back up to get back into bed. He did perk up a bit at the end of the week. Suffice it to say, I had to remind myself that 1.) he did not get sick to make our vacation miserable and 2.) we, the ones who were not feeling like crap, at least could get out of bed. This revelation came only after I already blurted out some non-loving things between cooking dinner, cleaning up dinner and getting four really tired kids ready for bed.
The second bummer is that we came home to a refrigerator not refrigerating.

You kids need a vacation from your vacation. Sorry. Glad you're back.
Do you want company next year?
Oh friend this sounds similar to our Vancouver trip. Much love. Instead of a non working refrigerator we had a leaky ceiling. Good times.
Thanks for empathizing girls.
We did have a great trip aside from the sick thing. It was far better than us not being at the ocean. And we did travel with some friends, which was a ball. They have 3 boys the same ages as our 3 oldest and a little girl closer to Reeny's age. You shoulda seen Reeny. She was in her element. Making all kinds of new friends on the beach. I think she will either be in the peace corps or be a used car saleswoman when she grows up.
