chicks

We got our 8 chicks a little over a week ago, April 15. They are an assorted mix of pullets. I think this is another way to say , "a buncha' mutts." In my limited research, I'm inclined to think the brown chicks are called Isa Brown. A brown chicken, lays brown eggs and is supposedly a prolific layer. I hope so. Here are their names. Easter, Gina, Chicken Little, Chickity, Pickity, Trouble, Floofs, and Julia. Reeny is holding her chick (Julia). She is IN LOVE with Julia. As she should be. And Julia puts up with her pretty well.

spring break '09 myrtle beach, SC

Our motley crew. Not all of the crew is represented in these photos. There were 10 kids between 2 families. Yes, that would be 4 adults seriously outnumbered. We went with Chris and Susan and their five kids, Trent, Logan, Grant, Lauren, and Carter. We brought along our friend, Sophie. The weather was cool, but the days were still fun-filled. Some of my favorite memories: Swimming in a warm pool when the air was frigid. Running from the warm pool to an even warmer hot tub....seriously, running. Finding really great, big shells. The morning Rob and I found oodles of conch shells. Every morning, Rob and I sneaking out (while the kids were all still sleeping) to take a walk down the beach with our coffee. Bumping into Chris and Susan sneaking out to walk down the beach one morning and ending up having a great kid-free, uninterreupted conversation. The morning we saw a dolphin swim all along the shoreline. Happy hour at our neighbors, Nancy and Tom's. An evening walk down the beach with the entire cast and crew. Our date night. Reeny's pooping episode on the pool deck....when Rob and I had all 10 kids. The dance party. Uno. Reading as much as I could, but not so obsessed with a book that I couldn't put it down to play.

walk for water '09

This Walk For Water event was organized to raise awareness and money for clean water around the world. Our young friend, Greta (a fourth grader!) started this event 3 years ago as part of her birthday party. This year hundreds of walkers helped raise over $25, 000. Way to go Greta!
